Terms of Use
Last updated 24 September 2026
These terms govern your use of Float, a product authentication service operated by Float Innovations Ltd (“Float”, “we”, “us”). They apply to the website at askfloat.com, the manufacturer dashboard at app.askfloat.com, and the verification service. By using any of them you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Float.
1. What Float does
Float lets manufacturers give each product unit a unique verification code, usually hidden under a scratch-off label. Anyone who buys the product can enter that code at askfloat.com/verify to check it against the manufacturer's records.
2. Verification results
A verification result reports what Float's records say about a code: whether it exists, whether the manufacturer has released it, and how many times it has been checked before.
Float does not make, sell, inspect or handle any product. Questions about a product's quality, safety or ingredients belong with its manufacturer and, where relevant, the regulator (for example NAFDAC).
3. Consumers
Checking a code is free, and you do not need an account. When you use it, you agree:
- to enter only codes from products you have bought or are about to buy;
- not to guess, generate or bulk-submit codes, or use automated tools against the verification service;
- that anything you send in a report is true to the best of your knowledge, and that you have the right to share any photo you attach.
We limit how often a code can be checked from one device or network, to protect the service from abuse.
4. Manufacturer accounts
If you register a company on Float, you agree:
- that the company, regulatory and ownership details you submit are accurate, and that you are authorised to act for the company;
- to keep your login details and any two-factor backup codes secure, and to tell us promptly at support@askfloat.com if you think your account has been compromised;
- to register only products your company makes or is authorised to distribute, and to keep product information shown to consumers accurate;
- that you are responsible for everything done through your company's account, including by the team members you invite.
We review every company before it can use Float and may refuse, suspend or close an account that gives false information, misuses the service or puts consumers at risk.
5. Codes, pricing and printing
Every company receives 10,000 verification codes a month free of charge. Codes beyond that allowance cost ₦2 each. The dashboard shows the price before you generate them. Prices may change; a change will not apply to codes you have already paid for.
Codes are sent to you by email. You are responsible for keeping them confidential until they are printed and applied to products. If you ask Float to print your codes, we will confirm the details and delivery with you separately.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use Float to mark counterfeit, stolen or unauthorised goods as genuine;
- attempt to access accounts, data or systems you are not authorised to use;
- interfere with, overload or reverse-engineer the service;
- submit false or malicious reports about a product or manufacturer.
7. Intellectual property
Float's software, design, name and logo belong to Float Innovations Ltd. Manufacturers keep all rights in their own brands, product information and images, and give us permission to store them and show them to consumers who check their codes.
8. Availability and liability
We work to keep Float available and accurate, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from a product you bought or sold. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Nigerian law.
9. Your privacy
How we collect and use personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and we will tell registered manufacturers by email about any significant change. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Questions about these terms can be sent to support@askfloat.com.
